Fire in Rila Mountain
On Wednesday, at 16:37, it is noticed that dry grass, peat and pine-scrub are burning in the area of Arizmanitza – Markov Kamuk, Blagoevgrad region, Bulgaria.
Initially the ministry informed that the fire has encompassed an area of around 900 decares, was developing mainly to the west and south with a front of around 1500 m. Later, the environmental ministry updated the information and said that 1200 decares have been encompassed by the fire.
The fire has been put off to the north. To the south it is localized but to the south-west it is growing because of the strong wind.
The actions of the firemen for combating the fire that started two days ago on the territory of National park “Rila” continue.
Four fire machines and 25 firemen were at the spot during the night. The terrain there is very rugged, and this makes the containing of the fire more difficult.
There is organization for today for sending additional forces and resources. 35 more firemen and 45 policemen have been sent to help put off the fire. Cooperation with local authorities is organized, two chain machines are awaited. 25 soldiers have been requested from the Ministry of defense, who to be included in the putting off of the fire.
